The Glenfarclas 21 Year Old follows reviews of the Glenfarclas 8 Year Old, 12 Year Old and 15 Year Old.This whisky, in my blind tasting of it, had the aroma of wet dough on the nose and it tasted flat and quite sweet on the palate. I much preferred the 15 year old and 25 year old Glenfarclas expressions.
Nose
The nose releases a musty smell, in which the bitter oak unfortunately strangles the sweetness of the sherry somewhat as a strange dough like smell detracts from the experience. It is somewhat boring to be honest, with notes I do not much like.
Taste
On the palate bitter wood roughly floods the palate, drowning out other flavours; though that sweet sherry comes in at the end. There is some earthiness and herbs, but these flavours are very weak.
Finish
The finish on this whisky lasts for a little while, but then fizzles.
