Nose: The fragrance of freshly sliced granny smith apple fills the glass with the faint smell of orchard fruit delivering lush green, apricot and brown pear encased in doughy maltiness. There is a beautiful honeyed sweetness that shines in this whisky together with mild nutty notes and the slightest hint of copper.
Taste: On the palate the crisp apple becomes more bitter, but it retains some fructose and sugary sherry notes that glisten in a wave of sour green grapes and bitter oak while dark chocolate sets in towards the end. This whisky is bitter and sweet on the palate, but there seems to be a strange note in the middle of the tasting that resembles sipping water from a tin cup! The bitterness seems a little too pronounced. Finish: That bitterness remains on the palate, with sour grapes and the alcohol at the fore. |
