Cascading shades of character glow on the palate, as a buttery foundation coats the palate with dense sugars and a sweet bouquet of Christmas cake and orange peel praline that is smoothed by vanilla and herbaceous honeycomb dusted with dark chocolate and cappuccino

Tasting notes:
Glenfiddich is striking while the iron is hot, and releasing expressions that retain tradition but at the same time push the boundaries ever so slightly to keep all us whisky lovers happy. The Glenfiddich Distillery Edition is an example of Glenfiddich's refreshing approach to whisky, because it is non chill-filtered and bottled at 51%. While the Glenfiddich 21 Year Old is bottled at the usual 40% ABV, it is interesting in that it is finished in casks that have previously held Caribbean rum. My mouth waters just thinking about it! ... that poor rum though, moving to Scotland after relaxing beneath the warm Caribbean sun!

Nose: Soft notes of creamy banana split drizzled with dark chocolate and layered with licorice bullets and raw sugar fill the glass. As the whisky rests, gentle floral notes contribute to the sweet bouquet of character that is moderated by the calming vanilla and chocolate rich oak. There is a rich dense sugary character about this whisky,  fresh honeycomb with sprigs of mint that develop into spearmint. The sugars from the rum add a sparkle of something different, to create a whisky that is pretty interesting!

Taste: The whisky lands on the palate smoothly with a buttery texture, and then the fun starts. The character progressively develops on the palate, as a gooey toffee hardens into crisp orange peel praline shards layered over Christmas cake. The dried fruits interact with the buttery, almost shortbread, character that lingers on the palate.

Finish: The zesty orange peel develops with some lime and dried fruit, as a dusting of dark chocolate over a cappuccino remains on the palate and leaves a bitter-sweetness.

Cascading character that keeps on developing and transforming on the palate
